The Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted is based on the PC version of the game. Due to the Wii U’s increased memory, Criterion are using assets from the PC version, along with improved lighting and tweaked draw distances, according to Criterion Games’ Alex Ward, who shared some of the Wii U version’s features with GamesRadar.
Criterion have added Miiverse support to the game as well, and this is compatible with the Most Wanted’s Autolog feature. You can post your accomplishments to Miiverse and the billboards in the game can feature you and your friends’ Miis.
Multiple control schemes are supported in the Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, too. You can play using the Wii U GamePad, the Wii U Pro Controller, just the Wii Remote using motion controls, or the Wii Remote and Nunchuk together.
As previously reported, the Wii U GamePad is supported in a variety of ways. Need for Speed: Most Wanted allows for off-TV play on the GamePad, but also has a “Co-driver” mode that lets a second player control traffic, change from day to night, get rid of police cars chasing you, or even swap vehicles for you on-the-fly. These feature are demonstrated in the video embedded above.
The Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be released on March 19th in North America and March 21st in Europe.
