A Naruto Sanrio collaboration will put Hello Kitty and pals into ninja garb beside characters from the popular series. The illustrations feature characters from the first Naruto series, such as the members of Team 7 and Minato. More illustrations will release sometime in 2022. It’s unclear whether the collaboration will also include merchandise.

There are a total of four different illustrations, each with a different pairing of Sanrio characters. Hello Kitty appears beside Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi, while Cinnamoroll appears alongside Zabuza and Haku. Additionally, Pompompurin comes alongside his friends Muffin and Scone, with the members of Team Minato. Finally, Naruto and Gaara appear with their respective beasts and Pokopon.
The Sanrio characters appear with the series’ iconic headbands. Similarly, the Naruto characters are also wearing some recognizable accessories such as Hello Kitty’s red bow and Pompompurin’s hat, among others. Notably, the announcement tweet also mentions Boruto, which means we may get to see characters from the later series as well.
This isn’t the first time the two franchises have collaborated, either. Earlier this year, Funko released Funko Pops of various Sanrio figures dressed as characters from Naruto Shippuden. Other collaborations include a Fortnite crossover event that let players purchase limited-time skins of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi.
The Naruto Sanrio collaboration will continue on into 2022, with more illustrations appearing at a later date.
