MTV and Electronic Arts team up to make a Guitar Hero competitor

Veteran Guitar Hero developer, Harmonix, (now owned by MTV) and Electronic Arts are working on a new title called Rock Band for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Rock Band has a similar premise as Guitar Hero except Rock Band has more instruments. Players can use a drum, bass/lead guitar and microphone to sing with their friends and form a virtual rock band. It sounds like Rock Band is a combination of Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Freaks and DrumMania with licensed Rock Music. The idea of having licensed music is probably what fans of Guitar Hero want, but wouldn’t Rock Band be a better title if players could record their own songs and share them too?
