Capcom announced that there will be a Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 (OBT 2). It will run between February 6-9, 2025, then February 13-16, 2025. This second test will be open to everyone on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and those on consoles won’t need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass to play online.
Capcom already has a tentative schedule for this latest open beta. Here’s when they are each expected to start and end:
- Session 1: Starts at 7pm PT/10pm ET on February 6, 2025, then ends at 6:59pm PT/9:59pm ET on February 9, 2025.
- Session 2: Starts at 7pm PT/10pm ET on February 13, 2025, then ends at 6:59pm PT/9:59pm ET on February 16, 2025.
Those times could change once it actually begins.
The focus of this test will be crossplay. Those of us who take part will get to hunt Gypceros alone or with other people. That monster has been a series staple, as it made its debut in the very first PS2 entry. The Story Trial and “Slay Doshaguma” quest from the first beta will also be back, in case someone missed trying those and the character creator out. You can also still use the character you made from the previous beta, if you have that data, and that avatar can also be used in the full game when it launches at the end of February 2025.
Here’s the official announcement for Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 (OBT 2) by Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. The video also confirmed changes based on feedback from the first beta will be present.
Monster Hunter Wilds will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on February 28, 2025, and the first crossplay focused Open Beta Test 2 (OBT 2) session will start on February 6, 2025.
