Monster Hunter Wilds Gunlance and Insect Glaive Videos Appear

Capcom released two more weapon overview videos for Monster Hunter Wilds covering the Gunlance and Insect Glaive weapons. The developer has been releasing these videos daily to show how the weapons will play in the new game, as well as show off any new features for them debuting in this entry.

The Gunlance remains a low mobility-high damage weapon with powerful guarding capabilities and shell attacks to provide some extra impact. This weapon’s Focus Mode attack appears to activate a rapid fire ranged attachment on the lance to help target weak spots that emerge on a monster’s hide.

Meanwhile, the Insect Glaive’s essence gathering capabilities return but the UI elements suggest that a Kinsect may be able to hold 2 essences at a time before returning in Wilds. Focus Mode will again provide weak point-targeting attacks, which look to involve the firing the Kinsect itself as part of the combo. An interesting new attack was also shown, which involved stabbing the weapon into the monster and then spinning around the pole of the weapon.

The first of these overviews appeared earlier in August 2024, and it covered the classic Greatsword and the new Focus Mode mechanic. Then we got a look at the powerful Heavy Bowgun and some of the new rapid fire capabilities it will have.

Monster Hunter Wilds will release some time in 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
