This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The first original Monster Hunter Switch game has been announced at the September 17, 2020 Nintendo Direct Mini. Monster Hunter Rise will launch in March 2021. In addition to the standard edition, there will be a Deluxe Edition that also gives people a Kamurai Hunter layered armor set, a Shuriken Collar Palamute layered armor piece, a Fish Collar Palico layered armor piece, four jump gestures, a Samurai pose set, Kabuki face paint, and Izuchi Tail hairstyles.

As you’d expect, a number of familiar (and vicious) faces appeared in the first peek at the game. We also saw ones we can trust too, as Palicos will be back. It will have Monster Hunter World-like elements to it, with more abilities to explore, a new assist to help you grapple around the world, and the ability to layer your armor. There will also be a dog ally. A calamity is coming, and we get to see creatures like Great Izuchi, Tetrandon, and the fearsome Magnamalo.

So far, only one Monster Hunter Switch game has appeared so far. It’s Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, the port of the updated version of the 3DS game Monster Hunter Generations. It launched two years ago on the system in 2018. However, there were hints that this new game is in development. In fact, back in June 2020 there was the latest suggestion that a new game was on the way soon.

Monster Hunter Rise is in development for the Nintendo Switch and will launch on March 26, 2021.
