In Persona 5, there’s a Confidant system that acts as this installment’s version of Social Links. Players help our new hero interact with party members and people in the city, to help earn skill bonuses, services, and in-battle rewards for the Phantom Thieves. Today, Atlus released trailers for Munehisa Iwai, Sojiro Sakura, and Tae Takemi, three Confidants you’ll find living in the Tokyo area.
If you socialize with Iwai, helping him smuggle goods and destroy evidence, he’ll let you access the special menu in his Untouchable airsoft gun shop. You’ll eventually be able to earn discounts and gun customization options.
Persona 5’s hero owes a lot to Sojiro, owner of Cafe Leblanc. The man has agreed to take him in and gives him a place to stay, after all. If you help Sojiro out by running his cafe, you’ll learn recipes for coffee and curry, which you can use to restore the party’s SP.
It isn’t like the cast of Persona 5 can walk into any hospital, what with them being Phantom Thieves. That’s where Tae’s clinic comes in. If you help her with her research, you’ll eventually get access to stronger potions and recovery items.
Persona 5 will come to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on April 4, 2017.
