Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Shows Off Powers

A new trailer came out for the upcoming Master Detective Archives: Rain Code game from the creators of Danganronpa. Whereas the previous trailers all focused on main protagonists Yuma Kokohead and Shinigami, the February 2023 Nintendo Direct showed off some of the detectives that Yuma will be working with.

Like Danganronpa, Rain Code will focus on detectives and solving murders. Unlike Danganronpa, the detectives in Rain Code all have special powers. We already know that Yuma’s ability lets him enter a separate dimension in which he can confront the murderer, for example. Aside from Yuma’s, the trailer shows the abilities of four other people. Aphex Logan has a radar-like ability to scan his surroundings. There is a character who can physically transform themself into other people as a Disguise, Audial Aptitude (super hearing), and Postcognition.

Yuma will also be able to use these abilities if they share with him. However, since Yuma’s power requires Shinigami and Shinigami specifically haunts him, it is unlikely that Yuma can drag his friends into the alternate dimension. Nonetheless, Yuma and his colleagues will have to use both their powers and their natural deductive reasoning in order to solve the crimes in Master Detective Archives: Rain Code.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code will come out on June 30, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
