We knew Kenny Omega would return to the ring as part of the 2025 Wrestle Dynasty match, and now he confirmed his entrance will include a new theme song from Final Fantasy composers Masayoshi Soken and Nobuo Uematsu. Jason Charles Miller, known for singing FFXIV songs, will be the vocalist for the tracks. The event starts at 8pm PT/11pm ET on January 4, 2025.
Kenny Omega offered more details about how the Final Fantasy composers and singer are involved in his new entrance theme song on social media. Soken, who is best known for his work on FFXIV and his work with The Primals on the game, composed the new music. Uematsu is involved for a “special voice,” rather than compositional duties. Miller is singing the track. In the past, Miller sang the FFXIV theme songs “Close the Distance,” “Shadowbringers,” and “To the Edge.”
Here’s the full announcement.
Masayoshi Soken also commented on the theme song announcement, and he referenced a few other names tied to the Final Fantasy series. He mentioned “Takai” in his social media post, which seems like it could be referencing FFXIV Supervisor and FFXVI Director Hiroshi Takai. He mentioned Koji too, and Michael-Christopher Koji Fox worked on FFXIV and FFXVI with Soken as well. Nobuo Uematsu hasn’t commented on his work on the Kenny Omega song yet, but JC Miller retweeted Soken’s message.
Wrestle Dynasty is an event that will involve wrestlers from multiple organizations competing. So in addition to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), there will also be athletes from All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), STARDOM, and Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH). Kenny Omega will be fighting Gabe Kidd.
Wrestle Dynasty will be held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on January 5, 2025, and we can start watching at 8pm PT/11pm ET on January 4, 2025.
