Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales by Insomniac Games was among some of the many PS5 games revealed during yesterday’s “Future of Gaming” event, but it wasn’t clear whether it was a full-on sequel or not. Sony clarified in an interview that it is more of an expansion and enhancement to the previous game. [Thanks, VGC.]
Speaking to The Telegraph, Sony Interactive Entertainment head of European Business, Simon Rutter, clarified that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is more like an expansion bolted onto an upgraded version Marvel’s Spider-Man. He also added that the Miles Morales will also come with “major enhancements” to the original title.
Here’s more on what Rutter had to say about the new title:
Simon Rutter: “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game.”
Simon Rutter: “There’s a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features.”
He also pointed out that it should be interesting to see how familiar might change to some degree through the workings of PS5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release for the PlayStation 5 in Holiday 2020. You can check out gameplay featuring Miles using Spider-Men powers in the announcement trailer in our previous report.
