Insomniac Games released a brand new patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which displays the Puerto Rican flag in Miles Morales’s apartment instead of the Cuban flag, which was previously there in error. Insomniac also apologized for the error in mixing up the two flags, stating they deeply regretted the mistake.
The flag in Miles’s room is meant to be a celebration of his Puerto Rican roots, and Insomniac acknowledged that “accurate representation matters” in their apology. The flags are similar in design as both have a single star within a left-aligned triangle and five alternating horizontal stripes. The difference between the two flags is the color placement. The Puerto Rican flag features a blue triangle and red-and-white stripes, while the Cuban flag has a red triangle with blue-and-white stripes. The game has plenty of references to Puerto Rico, and its flag appears correctly in many different locations within Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Patch Version 1.001.003 also included fixes for other visual glitches in the game, including an issue where the models wouldn’t load after long play sessions and a bug where the Amazing 2 Suit’s Spider logo appeared too bright. The new patch also improved stability.
Recently, it was reported that within 24 hours of release, Sony had sold over 2.5 million copies of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, making it the fastest-selling game in the history of PlayStation Studios.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available to play exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
