Mario Kart Tour Multiplayer Adds Team Races and Room Codes

The Mario Kart Tour multiplayer options are expanding. This time, it’s about giving people different ways to play with those close to them or to set up new races. You can have custom rooms now with Room Cades, while the Team Race option allows people to team up and speed toward victory.

With Room Codes, the goal is to allow people to only race with people they have picked. After you create a custom room, a Mario Kart Tour Room Code will be assigned to it. You can then take that and give it to up to seven people you want to race against.

As for the Mario Kart Tour multiplayer team races, it lets people pair up. During one of these local or online match-ups, people will be paired up into teams of two, with up to four teams with eight total competitors in a match. You and your ally will drive along hoping to work together to beat all competitors. (Also, don’t worry if your partner gets a weapon that would otherwise hurt you, as there is no friendly fire here.)

The whole Mario Kart Tour multiplayer feature first entered the beta phase back in December 2019, with only paid Gold Pass subscribers able to try it out. The second time around, people didn’t have to worry about the paywall. The full version officially launched back in March 2020.

Mario Kart Tour is available for Android and Apple iOS devices.
