During the Famitsu Dengeki Awards that were livestreamed in Japan earlier today, developer M2 released more information on their wholly-original shoot ’em up Ikusaba (temp.), which was previously revealed at JAEPO 2020. They also revealed today that Ikusaba will be their next upcoming M2 Shot Triggers game.

Additionally, they showed off footage from the game’s first two stages, which are near completion. According to M2 director Naoki Horii, the game will have a system where you play as four units piloted by different characters, and rather than a lives system, you swap to the next character after one of the units blow up from an enemy shot. Ikusaba will launch in Japanese arcades in Fall 2020 on the AMP3 platform, if circumstances allow it.

Horii joked that somehow, despite not remembering when the project was proposed and when he gave the project a green light, somehow it already reached this stage of completion. It seems that this is a common occurrence in M2’s offices. Originally, there was also going to be demos available in an event in April, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the event was cancelled. Horii says that he hopes M2 will be able to hold this event some time in the future.
