The latest Lupin the Third movie will appear outside of Japan. GKids announced on Twitter that it has picked up the title. It will be distributing it in North American theaters in 2020. An exact date wasn’t announced and, considering how many films have been affected by current events, it may be a while before we get an official window.
Lupin the Third: The First is the series’ first 3D animated movie. It launched in Japan back in December 2019 and featured Lupin III and his crew attempting as they try to take the Bresson Diary. Naturally, they’re being chased by Inspector Zenigata along the way.
When it does come to theaters outside Japan, people will have options for their showings. GKids confirmed that there will be the original Japanese voice acting with English subtitles or an English dub created specifically for the North American release.
In case you missed it, here’s a trailer showing how Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, Goemon, and Zenigata look in Lupin the Third: The First.
Lupin the Third: The First will appear in theaters outside of Japan sometime in 2020. It already aired in theaters in Japan, with Blu-rays expected to release in the region on June 3, 2020.
