Somewhere within the nine years of the PlayStation 2’s life span Treasure, yes the Treasure that created Ikaruga, made a game with the Tiny Toons license. Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe was supposedly based off Rakugaki Showtime, a Japan-only PsOne game published by Enix. Now that the game has been leaked we can see the connection between the two games.
Let’s take a look at Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe first.
And here is Rakugaki Showtime. Remember how Buster kicked around the balls, it’s similar to the object throwing in Rakugaki Showtime.
From a series of gameplay videos the leaked Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe looks fairly finished. The game even has voice acting! It’s not like publisher Conspiracy Entertainment would have had a problem releasing Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe in this state. This is the same company that published “quality” games Ninjabread Man and Action Girlz Racing. Perhaps retailers weren’t interested in stocking the game or the license expired. Whatever the case is Tiny Toons: Defenders of the Universe was canceled, but not completely lost.
