Gust previously revealed the first bit of information on the latest of the Atelier series in Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea, which will have a dual-protagonist system like Escha & Logy. Now, Gust have shared more information on the game’s story and a few screenshots.

One girl wishes to have her dream come true.

One girl wishes to save her hometown.

Both their wishes will take them to the sea of dusk.

The waters are drying, plants are withering, and creatures are starving. The blue seas have changed to yellow sands, as sea creatures no longer have a place to call home.

While the sun continues to shine, and the land continues holding onto the last droplet of water, it’s only a matter of time until it all mercilessly dries up. Thus, the world slowly, but surely, fades its colors into the world of dusk.

The people’s will to live had dried up like the pebbled sea; however, there was one oasis town that continued shining brightly. That is where the two young alchemists met.

These two small “streams” may have come from different fountains. They may collide at times, or even overflow, but they will continue moving forward.

In our earlier report, we got a look at some details on the two protagonists of Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea. Now, here’s a closer look at the two characters and some of the artwork behind their designs.

According to Gust, one of the key components of Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea will be the depiction of “the world of dusk,” so they will be making the fields in the game much larger than those in previous Atelier titles.

Instead of a fixed camera, the in-game camera will now be controllable, so you can get a better look to check out the scenery.

The “Life Task” is a new system that will be introduced in Atelier Shallie, where you’ll be advancing through the game by clearing three different elements: explore, synthesize, and fight. Here’s a quick look at how it’ll flow.

Field exploring and collecting.

Synthesizing.

Battle.

Objective clear, followed by an event.

Since the fields will be much more vast this time around, that means there will be that many more areas to explore for items. There will also be items that can only be acquired under certain circumstances.

Finally, Gust say that the synthesis system is based on the one from Atelier Escha & Logy, but add that it will be much more enjoyable and easier to understand.

While the world may be drying up, the oasis town still retains its beauty, as seen in the above images. As previously mentioned, the scenery is one of the main focuses that Gust wants fans to enjoy in the upcoming game.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea will be released on June 26, 2014 for PlayStation 3.
