With titles like Metal Max 3, Durarara!! 3-way Standoff, and Earth Seeker Kadokawa Games has been growing in Japan. None of their games have been released in North America yet, so I was pretty surprised to see a trademark for Lollipop Chainsaw in the USPTO.
I first discovered Lollipop Chainsaw in Japan’s trademark database, but ended up not writing about it. While we still don’t know what Kadokawa Games plans on using Lollipop Chainsaw for we’re talking about the trademark now since the publisher also filed it in North America.
This either indicates (1.) Lollipop Chainsaw is a key franchise and Kadokawa Games wants to protect it overseas or (2.) they’re thinking about releasing the game overseas.
We’re puzzled not so much by the idea of a Lollipop Chainsaw, although that would be a bizarre contraption. Which publisher will work with Kadokawa Games to bring their titles to the States is the question we’re mulling over.
