We reported on the announcement of a broom-flying Little Witch Academia VR game last month, and this week the project went live on Kickstarter. The project is aiming to reach 5,000,000 yen in funding (around $46,100), and the project will be open until August 18, 2019 at 11am AWST.
According to the developer, VR studio UNIVRS, they wanted to see Akko and her friends again, and then received the cooperation of Trigger, Toei, Good Smile Company, and more. This project, if successfully funded, will be developed to let players fly with Akko and the others using new technology developed by UNIVRS that prevents motion sickness prevalent in VR gameplay.
In Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing, players will enter Luna Nova Academy as a student with their own avatar, and tag team with the characters of Little Witch Academia in order to try win the Bonding Race. Apart from singleplayer, multiplayer races against friends are also planned.
Currently, the game is planned to only release digitally on Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, PSVR, and SteamVR. The estimated delivery date of the game is June 2020 if the campaign succeeds.
