Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Mad Dog and Sea Dog Styles Detailed

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio offered new details about the Mad Dog and Sea Dog Battle Styles Goro Majima can use in the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii spin-off. In his new adventure, he can use his classic combat style or switch things up with new pirate gear and summons to tie in with his new role.

The Mad Dog style combines fists and kicks with swift knife attacks, which we’ve seen Majima use in past Yakuza games. It is a very speedy style that also allows for aerial combos. With this stance, players can fill up the Madness Gauge by dealing damage, which can be used to summon a group of shadow doppelgangers to increase Majimaā€™s attack power.

Meanwhile, the Sea Dog battle style is exclusive to Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and it allows players to dual-wield cutlasses to dish out slash combos using pirate gear. By advancing the story, players can also use the Madness Gauge in Sea Dog style to summon four types of dark deities with treasures known as ā€œDark Instruments.ā€

The Cutlass Boomerang, Pistol, and Chain Hook are the three available sidearms that can be used with the Sea Dog style. The cutlass boomerang allows for a wide range of damage, while the pistol can be charged to deal damage, and the chain hook allows players to propel Majima towards enemies. The four Dark Instruments available are a violin capable of summoning mean-eating sharks, a guitar that can call a massive ape capable of uppercutting enemies, a saxophone that calls upon an avian that summons tornadoes, and an ocarina that summons jellyfish.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will come out on February 21, 2025 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
