The opening movie for Like a Dragon Gaiden features a lot of moody shots of Kazuma Kiryu in bars. It shows him deep in thought while drinking, smoking and eating nuts. He also receives a mysterious phone call, which he rejects. It’s similar to a lot of imagery seen in trailers for the game so far, as Kiryu finds himself trapped in taking a job as a secret agent.

The opening movie also introduced the main theme for Like a Dragon Gaiden. It’s called “Katatoki” and is a collaboration between Yojiro Noda and J.I.D. Noda is a member of the band Radwimps, who gained international recognition for their work on the movies of Makoto Shinkai, including Your Name and Suzume. J.I.D. is an American rapper who is no stranger to video game related projects. He previously worked with Imagine Dragons to write the song “Enemy” for Arcane, the Netflix series based on League of Legends.

Elsewhere in Like a Dragon news, the next main game in the series, Infinite Wealth, now has a confirmed January 2024 release date.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be released on November 9, 2023 for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
