Pokemon Sword and Shield Mewtwo Max Raid Battles will appear for a limited time. As part of the 24 year anniversary of the Pokemon franchise players will be able to battle Mewtwo to receive special rewards. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to catch Mewtwo during this event. However, the Pokemon Red and Blue starters are also part of this event and are available to catch. This limited time event will last until March 2, 2020. [Thanks, Inside Games!]

Additionally, Gigantamax Grimmsnarl, Kingler, Hatterene, Orbeetle and Toxtricity will show up in Max Raid Battles from time to time as well. While it is a shame that players will not be able to catch Mewtwo through this event, engaging in battle with this iconic Pokemon will net players Ability Capsules and PP Max.

Information regarding the Gigantamax Toxtricity Raid was already shared in a previous announcement, but let’s go over the highlights again. The Gigantimax Toxtricity’s unique move is G-Max Stun Shock. It both damages and paralyzes opposing Pokemon. So if you’re looking for a solid Electric type for Max Raid battles, or competitive play, this might be the Pokemon you’re looking for.

DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield is also still on the way. This expansion will come in two parts, with the first launching in June 2020.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available for the Nintendo Switch. Other recent raids include ones for Milcery and Magikarp.
