Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom ‘Performance Artist’ Automaton Guide

One of the additional Automaton quests from Dampe in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is “Performance Artist.” While one of the echoes you need for it is among the first you learn, the other involves getting a horse and taking part in a minigame. That’s the only way to earn a Prismatic Music Box in LOZ: Echoes of Wisdom for a Gizmol.

How do I get the echo and Prismatic Music Box for “Performance Artist” in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Okay. So first, you need to repair the Suthorn, Gerudo, Jabul, and Hyrule Castle rifts. Then, you need to meet Dampe and finish his sidequest to unlock Automatons. This opens up the “Performance Artist” request. However, to also complete this, you need to finish the “Impa’s Gift” quest to gain access to Zelda’s personal horse. This is because you need to take part in Hyrule Ranch races and beat the middle course to earn the item to inspire the inventor.

Once you take “Performance Artist” from the journal on Dampe’s bench, he’ll ask for the following items:

  • “Jiggly monster with cute little eyes” – Zol
  • “Something melodic around Hyrule Ranch” – Prismatic Music Box

The Zol is the common, small, green slime that is on the beach near Suthorn Village. It can also be found in Hyrule Field. Trust me when I say you’ll have one by this point. It’s the Prismatic Music Box that is the issue. If you teleport to the ranch and go inside the house, you’ll see it on a table. However, you can’t copy it. It is a prize for beating the second, “middle” course during the racing minigame. You can only compete if you have access to Zelda’s personal horse.

In order to earn the Prismatic Music Box in LOZ: Echoes of Wisdom, you need to complete the middle course in 25 seconds. This race isn’t at all challenging, provided you weave out of the way of trees and dash to jump obstacles. I managed it in about 17 seconds. The thing is that you’re “given” the item, instead of copying it.

Head back to Dampe’s house. Summon the Zol on the metal platform as usual. However, you can’t summon the Prismatic Music Box. So to complete “Performance Artist” in LOZ: Echoes of Wisdom, you then need to talk to Dampe and choose to chat with him to have him “notice” you are holding the Hyrule Ranch melodic item. Give it to him. He’ll then create the Gizmol.

But you’re not done yet.

What is the “Zol that’s really out there” in LOZ: Echoes of Wisdom?

After you get the Gizmol Automaton in LOZ: Echoes of Wisdom, head to Hyrule Castle. Remember the kid who wanted to see different kinds of Zol echoes earlier in the game in the “A Curious Child” quest? Well, there’s a new quest there. This time, you need to show off the Gizmol to complete the request.

You don’t need to wind it. Just switch to the Automaton option, select Gizmol, and place it. A scripted scene will occur. You’ll get a piece of heart as a reward for your efforts.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is available for the Nintendo Switch
