Legend of Mana Anime The Teardrop Crystal Announced

Square Enix revealed that Legend of Mana will get an anime adaptation titled The Teardrop Crystal. The company made the announcement during a livestream event commemorating the Mana series’ 30th anniversary. Warner Bros. Japan will produce the project while Graphinica and Yokohama Animation Laboratory will handle the animation together.

Revealed during the special livestream, Mana series producer Masaru Oyamada explained how the project came to fruition. Oyamada stated that the idea for the anime was actually Warner Bros. Japan’s idea. The company approached Square Enix even before it was developing the game’s recently released HD remaster. Oyamada further elaborated that the producer from Warner Bros. Japan was so enamored with Legend of Mana on PlayStation 1 that he was eager to make an anime adaptation. Lastly, Oyamada confirmed the anime will release worldwide.

Just before announcing Legend of Mana The Teardrop Crystal at the 2:04:00 mark, Square Enix showed the anime cinematic from the remastered game’s opening.

The livestream was quite the treat for fans of the series. Square Enix also revealed a brand-new mobile game for 2022 called Echoes of Mana. Additionally, the company confirmed a new console Mana title is in development.

The anime adaptation Legend of Mana The Teardrop Crystal is currently in production. A remastered version of the PlayStation classic is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
