Last night, XSEED sent out a cryptic tweet on Twitter. It read, “So a priest and a nun walk into a game….” The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd stars Kevin Graham, a priest who first appeared in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, and his childhood friend Ries, a Septian Church nun and squire. Now, XSEED has confirmed The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd will be released on Windows PCs in 2017. A PlayStation Portable version was not mentioned.
In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, the Septian Church sends Kevin to investigate an artifact. When he arrives to begin his mission, he meets Ries, his old friend. The two team up, and events transpire that take them to a realm known as Phantasma. Many of the characters from the previous two Trails in the Sky games appear, providing a look at what they were up to over the course of the previous games and offering some foreshadowing.
XSEED also offered an update on The Legend of Cold Steel II. The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game will be released sometime in fall 2016. The first game ended on a cliffhanger, and the sequel picks up where it left off.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd and Trails of Cold Steel II press release also offered additional information concerning the series. XSEED revealed the three localized The Legend of Heroes games in the Trails line have sold 350,000 copies total so far. That accounts for The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Trails in the Sky SC, and Trails of Cold Steel.
To celebrate, the The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky games are reduced on the PlayStation Store and Steam. The Windows PC and PlayStation Portable versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky are currently $9.99 each. The Windows PC and PlayStation Portable versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC are $20.99. These deals will last until March 18, 2016.
