Back in May 2020, CUBETYPE and Nise-Eikoku-Shinshidan announced that the dungeon RPG Labyrinth of Touhou 2 would be heading to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Now the companies announced that the game will release next week on July 16, 2020. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The game is a sequel to a Touhou fangame that plays similar to Etrian Odyssey or Wizardry. Various heroines from the series are the stars. During dungeon segments, you will move the party around a grid-based isometric map, all while encountering enemies along the way. Players can form parties of twelve, with four main fighters and eight backup characters, and you’ll be able to customize each character. You can swap between members in battle, which will allow players to take advantage of enemies’ elemental weaknesses. According to the developer, the game will have over 100 bosses to fight.
Story-wise, we will follow Reimu as she searches for the missing Amanomurakumo sword. When a giant tree that is high enough to pierce the sky sprouts in Gensokyo, she heads inside along with others to find out what is going on.
