Since 2009, the Kotobukiya Bishoujo figures line has given people a chance to get 1/7th to 1/8th scale statues of characters from video game, comic, and horror series based on Shunya Yamashita art. Now, to better help people follow along with new releases and remember these figures’ roots, a dedicated website has launched.
The Kotobukiya Bishoujo site starts at the very beginning with the 2009 Black Widow figure. Back then, the line started out with Marvel characters like her, Rogue, and Scarlet Witch. 2010 added DC Comics characters, like Batgirl. 2012 brought with it video game heroines, like Tekken’s Alisa Bosconovitch, Asuka Kazama, and Christie Monteiro and Mass Effect’s Liara T’Soni. Later, in 2014, Street Fighter figures showed up. Most recently, the first Kotobukiya Bishoujo Remix figure was revealed to be the line’s first rendition of Hatsune Miku.
In addition to detailed pages going over the history of the series, new product announcements will be made here. People can also use the site as a resource to see how the Yamashita concept art ended up turning into a finished product.
The Bishoujo Remix Hatsune Miku 1/7th figure will take the stage in September 2020. Some of the other recent releases include a May 2020 rerelease of Supergirl and a gender-swapped version of Beetlejuice, which will launch in June 2020.
