A new visual novel inspired by Japanese folklore has launched on Kickstarter. Koropokkur in Love is an original, all-ages MangaGamer title for PCs. It is asking for $30,000 by April 3, 2018 to create the game, which would hopefully be released by September 2018. Itaru Hinoue, who did the character designs for Air, Clannad and Kanon, is handling its character designs and illustrations.
In Koropokkur in Love, players follow a young Koropokkur named Asirrera who is living in Hokkaido. Koropokkurs are tiny little people, somewhat like sprites, who appear in Ainu folklore. Asirrera has heard legends of a Koropokkur who went to live among the humans and found love. So she too decides to leave her village and uses magic to become the size of a human being. She ends up in Akihabara, working in a maid cafe run by Satoru, hopefully helping him make it a success. She is joined by her friends Cirta and Haruante, who also left the village and came to the cafe.
The lowest amount of money someone can spend to get a copy of Koropokkur in Love is $15. That gives people a digital copy and all bonus DLC from both Steam and MangaGamer. In order to get a physical copy, you must spend at least $50. (The physical copy also includes digital keys.) Stretch goals include a $40,000 tier that add dual language support and both Linux and Mac versions, an $80,000 tier that adds full voice acting, a $120,000 tier for a Cirta side story add-on, a $150,000 tier for a Haruante side story add-on and a $200,000 tier to add Live2D animated models to the game.
Koropokkur will come to Windows PCs if fully funded.
