Kojima Productions clarified its relationship with both Microsoft and Sony Interactive Entertainment in response to its recent announcement of a new game in partnership with Xbox Game Studios. The company took to Twitter to explain some of its business plans going forward, as well as shed light on future games within the PlayStation ecosystem.
During the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Hideo Kojima announced that his company would be partnering with Xbox Game Studios on a new game. The game, Kojima stated, will be “one that no one has ever experienced or seen before,” and will utilize Microsoft’s cloud technology. This echoed statements from September 2021 in which Kojima revealed that he wanted to make games that “change in real-time.” Kojima would later go on to reveal that two new games were in development, one of which was “new and challenging.”
After the announcement of our partnership with Microsoft using the cloud technology, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE. Please be assured that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation® as well.#KojimaProductions https://t.co/mVOELwDuk9

Though rumors of a possible partnership have existed for some time, many fans have reportedly asked Kojima Productions about its ongoing partnership with Microsoft’s competitor, Sony Interactive Entertainment. To this, Kojima Productions first clarified that it would continue pursuing work “as an independent creative studio.” As such, Kojima Productions will continue to maintain “a very good partnership with PlayStation as well.”
Kojima Productions’ first game was Death Stranding, a PlayStation 4 exclusive title on launch. The game later received a Director’s Cut edition exclusively for PlayStation 5 in 2021, followed by a PC port in 2022. Additionally, actor Norman Reedus revealed earlier this year that a Death Stranding sequel was currently in production.
