During SNK’s Tokyo Game Show 2021 livestream, the company revealed its latest addition to the KOF XV roster, Isla. As the rival to Shun’ei, she also wields the phantom hands and plays a major role in the story. Isla’s debut trailer confirmed that Lynn will voice the character. Lynn previously voiced characters such as Azura from Fire Emblem Fates and Nico from Devil May Cry 5.
Isla is a graffiti artist, and her moveset reflects that. Her trailer shows her wielding spray paint during many of her combos, and she even summons her phantom hands with it. Her stage, a graffiti-filled underground subway station, also reflects her specialty. Isla has some great versatility in her attacks, switching between short and mid-range thanks to her phantom hands. Later in the livestream, Isla’s capabilities were further shown in a series of matches between several top players.
The previous fighter revealed for KOF XV was Kukri, the foul-mouthed sand wielder from North Africa who makes his return from KOF XIV. He was also the main antagonist of the spin-off title SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy. Meanwhile, the latest Team Story covered the motivations behind Team Fatal Fury members Andy Bogard, Terry Bogard, and Joe Higashi.
The King of Fighters XV will release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on February 17, 2022.
