KOF XV Character Designer Talks About Isla and Her ‘Hands’

In The King of Fighters series, plenty of characters have special powers. For example, Shun’ei has two spectral hands that can deal fire and ice damage. In KOF XV, new character Isla also has two “hands,” and a new statement from SNK Character Designer Tomohiro Nakata explains how they differ from Shun’ei’s.

The crux of it is that the two hands Isla uses in KOF XV act like a separate entity. They even have their own name: Amanda.

Here’s Nakata’s full statement from Twitter.

The day is finally here where we can show off KOF XV’s main heroine and new character, Isla! I’m sure many of you are wondering what was going on during the release trailer, as she seemed to really have it out for Shun’ei, haha.

Though they both fight using the mysterious power of their “hands,” Isla’s “hands” seemingly have a mind of their own, and go by the name Amanda. Isla and Amanda fight as a duo, and it’s interesting to see how they both go against other competitors and Shun’ei. You won’t want to miss it.

In terms of playstyle, Isla has a ton of special moves she can use in-air, which can be used to play with her opponents. Her normals also are no joke since both her jumping and far heavy punches have a high reach and quick startup. She’s a real fun and tricky character to pin down, and so I’m excited for all of you to play her when the game releases.

In the past, Nakata also talked about the KOF XV appearances of characters like Ash Crimson and Antonov.

KOF XV will appear on February 17, 2022 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
