SNK has announced that it will release The King of Fighters XIII: Global Match for PC via Steam on February 20, 2025. The new Global Match version will effectively replace the existing KOF XIII: Steam Edition on PC.
The company had previously released the same version on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in November 2023. The Global Match edition adds an online lobby with spectator mode that can host up to nine players. But it is most known for employing the rollback netcode, which has been deemed essential by the fighting game community and is gradually adapted by many other fighting games, such as Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball FighterZ, Bushiroad’s Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, and Sega’s Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
There is already a KOF XIII: Steam Edition existing on the platform since September 2013. However, SNK will delist the old PC release on January 23, 2025, to make way for Global Match. That means while existing Steam Edition owners can still download and access the old version, newcomers will only be able to purchase and play the separate Global Match edition.
Even though SNK has still yet to actually list the prices for Global Match on Steam as of the initial announcement, the company already confirmed that the new version will be purchasable in Japan at 2,970 yen. Players who already have KOF XIII: Steam Edition will receive an exclusive discount to purchase the new PC version at just 1,000 yen.
The King of Fighters XIII: Global Match will be available on PC via Steam on February 20, 2025. The same game is immediately accessible on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
