In Japan, there are things called ichiban kuji. These are essentially lotteries at stores where you buy a ticket and have a chance of getting certain items depending on the letter on that ticket. While these aren’t available worldwide, some of their items sometimes are through Premium Bandai boxes. The latest Banpresto Box draws from the Kirby Hat Studio ichiban kuji, which ran back in September 2019, and gives people outside Japan a chance to buy some of those items.
While this Kirby Hat Studio box doesn’t include some of the larger ichiban kuji items, it does pull from some of the higher ranked ones. For example, the 39.4” long blanket that was a C-rank prize is there, as are all three Kirby, Waddle Dee, and Magolor 1.9” figures that were D-rank prizes. The lowest “level” prize to return in this box is the 27.6” towel with Kirby getting a hat from a few Waddle Dees. There’s also a 4.7” mascot plush keychain of Kirby that wasn’t a part of the kuji when it was available in Japan.
Here’s a gallery looking at all of the items.
The Premium Bandai Kirby Hat Studio Banpresto Box is $29.99. People can pre-order it between July 22 and August 31, 2020. They will then receive the box sometime in January 2021.
