It seems THQ Nordic is continuing its trend of reviving older series. A Microsoft Store listing appeared for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, an Xbox One remaster of the action-RPG from 38 Studios. At the time, it was known for having a world created by author R. A. Salvatore, a soundtrack from former Rare composer Grant Kirkhope, and art from Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. This remaster will apparently launch on August 18, 2020.
There are a few details about what the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning remaster will entail. Essentially, it seems like it is a definitive edition with updated graphics, with the product page mentioning graphical fidelity changes. It will also include the game’s DLC, as the listing specifically cites The Legend of Dead Kel and Teeth of Naros. (Those added new areas, enemies, and features.) It doesn’t mention The Weapons and Armor Bundle with extra armor sets and weapons, but those seem a likely addition. Kaiko, a developer that worked on the recent ports and remasters of Darksiders Warmastered Edition, Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition, and Legend of Kay Anniversary Edition, is listed as the remaster’s developer.
Update: THQ Nordic has formally announced the remaster.
The rumours are true! Prepare for a Re-Reckoning, because Kingdoms of Amalur is coming back.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning appeared on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2012. The return isn’t too surprising. While the original developer did go bankrupt, the IP was one of many picked up by THQ Nordic in its many acquisitions and the company has a habit of reviving old properties.
