According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie will feature Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow. The film is set to release in cinemas on December 20, 2024, and the director teased Shadow’s appearance back in November 2023.
The leak originated from The John Campea Show, a movie-focused podcast and YouTube channel. In a video on the channel, Campea describes how he was told of the casting by someone “very connected” at the afterparty for a showing of The Fall Guy at Cinemacon 2024 in Las Vegas.
Reeves is well known for his role in the Wachowski Sister’s The Matrix trilogy (1999 – 2021), as well as in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), and more recently the John Wick series (2014 – 2023).

Jim Carrey is also set to star in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, returning to his role as series antagonist Dr Robotnik. A spin-off show featuring Idris Elba’s Knuckles is also set to debut on Paramount+ on April 26, 2024.
Keanu Reeves is reportedly voicing Shadow in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, which is set to release in cinemas on December 20, 2024.
