The subtitle beneath the Jujutsu KaisenĀ season 2 logo confirms officially, that the season will adapt the “Kaigyoku,” “Gyokusetsu”, and “Shibuya Incident” story arcs. As seen in the pages of Gege Akutami’s originalĀ Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Kaigyoku and Gyokusetsu are jointly referred to as the “Gojo’s Past” arc or the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc. They dig into the events of Gojo’s life as a second year student at Jujutsu High, when he cooperated with Suguru Geto to escort the Star Plasma Vessel. Earlier releases of poster art from the season effectively confirmed this by showing off Gojo’s appearance circa-2006.

Meanwhile, the Shibuya Incident story arc is the direct continuation of events from the first season, taking place in the series’ present. The main cast is forced to battle against an alliance of cursed spirits and curse users, aiming to defend Gojo from being sealed.

Season 2 ofĀ Jujutsu KaisenĀ premieres in July 2023 in Japan. International release plans have not yet been announced.
