The Japanese fighter, Joe Higashi, spent most of his training time in Thailand to master Muay Thai. He followed the steps of his father, who was also a Muay Thai champion. As one of the starting characters in the inaugural Fatal Fury title in 1991, Joe has been available as a playable character in most KOF games released to date. He was notably absent in the playable roster and only appeared as a cameo in The King of Fighters XI, KOF Maximum Impact 2, and KOF EX2: Howling Blood.

Although the first three characters revealed for KOF XV—Shun’ei, Meitenkun, and Benimaru—were grouped into Team Hero, it is yet to be confirmed whether Joe Higashi will be grouped with last week’s reveal, Iori Yagami, and whichever character is revealed next in this weekly series of character trailers.

The King of Fighters XV will be available worldwide in 2021. SNK has yet to announce the platforms for this upcoming fighting game developed with Unreal Engine.
