Jiaoqiu Can Support Lots of Teams in Honkai: Star Rail

Jiaoqiu in Honkai: Star Rail is a character who can fit on teams as a support, a DoT attacker, or both. His universality means that he can work with a wide number of attackers or other support characters.

In order to know who to best use with Jiaoqiu, you need to understand his kit. Jiaoqiu’s bread and butter is his Talent, which inflicts Ashen Roast on enemies. Ashen Roast counts as a Fire DoT, but beyond that, it also increases the DMG that enemies receive. Much like how the spiciness of a mala soups build over time, he can increase the number of Ashen Roast stacks on enemies, capping at 5, which also increases that debuff. His Ultimate stacks the maximum number of Ashen Roast onto all enemies, as well as activates a Zone. While inside the Zone, enemies take more DMG from Ultimates, as well as have a chance of receiving an Ashen Roast stack at the beginning of their turn.

Because of this kit, Jiaoqiu works especially well with characters like Acheron, who mostly rely on damage from their Ultimate to deal damage. As a DoT unit, he’s also great with characters like Kafka. He’s sort of like a combination between Guinaifen and Pela.

Aventurine is the optimal sustain for Acheron due to his ability to inflict debuffs as well. Finally, Pela is great for lowering enemy DEF, which works well if you run Jiaoqiu with a Light Cone like Before the Tutorial Mission Starts. Pela can also give Jiaoqiu additional Effect Hit Rate if he needs it. If you have Acheron at E2 and want to focus on her rather than Jiaoqiu, then replacing Pela with a Harmony is also valid.
• Kafka | Black Swan | Jiaoqiu | Huohuo
  This is one of the optimal teams for a DoT team that uses Jiaoqiu. If you don’t have Black Swan, you can replace her with another character like Sampo, or even pull out a Harmony like Ruan Mei. Jiaoqiu can help Kafka with both his Ashen Roast DoT and debuffs, and his Zone is useful for Kafka’s Ultimate as well. Huohuo is a good sustain because she’s able to restore Energy with her Ultimate, which helps Jiaoqiu keep his Zone up as well.
• Jiaoqiu | Attacker | Asta | Natasha
  This is a F2P-oriented team for those who don’t have the more premium options. Jiaoqiu is a combination attacker and support, working in tandem with another character like Serval or Trailblazer (Destruction). You don’t necessarily have to limit yourself to a DoT attacker in Jiaoqiu’s case, since his debuffs focus on how much DMG the enemy takes. Asta can increase everyone’s SPD, as well as buff ATK. These two stats are pretty vital for Jiaoqiu and since they’re both Fire, one of them can use the Penacony, Land of the Dreams Planar Ornament Set. If you need more Effect Hit Rate for Jiaoqiu, Pela is an option too.
• Dr. Ratio | Jiaoqiu | Robin | Aventurine
  This is a Dr. Ratio hyper-carry team that relies on Jiaoqiu and Aventurine’s debuffs to trigger Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack. Robin is the ideal support for a follow-up attack team, but you can replace her with another Harmony character if you don’t have her. You can also use a Nihility like Silver Wolf or Pela if you think Jiaoqiu and Aventurine aren’t enough. While Jiaoqiu’s kit doesn’t specifically focus on follow-up attacks like Robin, his universality can still aid in increasing Dr. Ratio’s damage. 
• Yunli | Jiaoqiu | Jade | Huohuo
  This is a Yunli hyper-carry team that focuses on Jiaoqiu’s Zone increasing the damage she does with her Ultimate. Jade’s role is as a sub attacker, though you can also replace her with characters like Topaz or Robin. Finally, Huohuo’s role is to sustain the group while providing extra Energy for everyone (since both Yunli and Jiaoqiu rely heavily on their Ultimates).
