Japan gets to enjoy co-op zombie shooting about a week earlier since Resident Evil 5 has been rescheduled to come out on March 5. Since Resident Evil 5 comes out in North America on March 13 there isn’t much incentive to import. On December 5th (the marketing department must love connecting Resident Evil 5 with the number 5…) Japan gets a first taste of Resident Evil 5 outside of Tokyo Game Show from a downloadable demo distributed on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Like all demos on Xbox Live the Resident Evil 5 demo will only be available to gold members on that date. Everyone holding a free silver Xbox Live account registered in Japan will be able to get the demo a week later.
Capcom has plans to release a Resident Evil 5 demo in North America for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 “a bit later than the Japanese demo.” So we can’t be envious that much here either.
However, the Resident Evil 5 limited edition pack sold on Capcom’s online store might be something to drool over. Fans that pick this up get a copy of Resident Evil 5, a 2GB USB flash drive, an art book, and a waist pack for 12,800 yen ($128). Of course this promotion is for Japan only too, but some of these items might transfer over in the Resident Evil 5 Collector’s Edition Capcom plans to release in the USA. Here’s a look at what Japan gets.
