Square Enix are working on a Minecraft-like Dragon Quest Builders, a game that will have you build your own world and defeat the Dragonlord. Meanwhile, Japanese Minecrafters have already made their very own Dragon Quest Builders with a neat Minecraft mod.

The mod is called DQM II (probably stands for Dragon Quest Minecraft) and it basically replaces Creepers, Endermen, Skeletons, Zombies, and more for all kinds of Slimes and others familiar monsters, boasting over 200 different monsters from the series. The mod also adds a bunch of extra content seen throughout the Dragon Quest series.

Simply replacing the skin of monsters wouldn’t be as amusing, so they’ve added all kinds of different swords, staves, and other weapons from the Dragon Quest series, and many of them come with their own effects. The mod features various other items from the series, such as Medicinal Herbs for heals and the valuable Yggdrasil Leaf.

Many of the monsters are said to be exceptionally tough, so you won’t be able to take on the likes of Gem Slimes right off the bat. Instead, you’ll need to work your way up and acquire stronger weapons to take them on.

There are Dragon Quest-themed dungeons as well, which you’ll get to challenge as you become stronger. Similar to the Dragon Quest games, there are pets you can recruit, and they’ll fight by your side in battle. These pets can also be evolved by using items.
