Iwata Asks: Is A Little Bit More Than Enough?

As a follow up to the Touch Generation series, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata thought of quick play “Chotto” series, which he jokingly called Chotto! Generations. Why? In his words, “Even though they think video games are fun, they look like they will take up so much time.”

In a roundtable discussion about Brain Age Express, Iwata reminisces about Earthbound where Ness’s father would call him and ask if he should take a break. The concept of the Chotto series is instead of capturing players with an immersive experience they interact with a game bit by bit.

 

A bunch of Chotto or, as they are called here Express, games are on DSiWare. Most of them are stripped down retail games, but the Express quick play concept is a good idea. SNK hopped on the concept with their bite-sized RPG Kimi no Yuusha. What other games or genres could benefit from express play?
