Update: Konami sent us a statement regarding the cancellation of Metalocalypse: Dethgame. “In light of creative differences, Konami Digital Entertainment and Cartoon Network are no longer working together to publish Metalocalypse Deathgame. The two companies are still committed to a long and productive game development partnership as we just launched Ben 10 Alien Force: The Rise of Hex for XBLA and WiiWare.”

Original story: Last year, Konami brought an early build of Metalocalypse: Dethgame to Comic-Con. The title was a Final Fight style beat ‘em up with fountains of blood. I played it last year and glancing through my notes Metalocalypse: Dethgame had brutal finishing moves where you can throw enemies into a spiked traps and a urinal mini-game at the beginning.

Frozen Codebase, the studio behind Screwjumper and Elements of Destruction, were working on Metalocalypse: Dethgame.

“Were” because Konami isn’t publishing the game anymore. Since Metalocalypse: Dethgame wasn’t at E3 or at Konami’s Comic-Con press suite, I asked about it. The story is Adult Swim pulled the license and axed the title. Metalocalypse: Dethgame was supposed to come out on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
