Is There Romance in Atelier Yumia?

Unfortunately, let’s go ahead and get the answer you may not be wanting out of the way. No, there is no explicit romance, for the most part, that you will find in this particular story. This is unfortunate given that it has the Tales of Arise-style system of six party members with plenty of deep relationships between the cast.

However, this is game is not the Persona-style experience where you can romance characters. That said, there is a system that is similar-ish to that particular Atlus series that fans of it may be happy to experience. Unfortunately, if you complete that side content, you will not find explicit romance waiting for you at the end.

How to Spend Time With Party Members

While there is no true romance in Atelier Yumia, there is a way to deepen your platonic bonds with the party members. Each of the five other party members besides Yumia herself have side quests for you to do that will have their faces as the icons. If you see Rutger’s image on a quest, for instance, you will know that it is a Rutger side story quest.

These are totally optional but highly recommended. This is because each of the five other party members all have their own dedicated storylines for you to explore. They have multiple quests in different regions to do and some even unlock some crucial bonuses or gameplay features. You should definitely do them if you want more of the relationships between the characters.

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
