The titular Princess Zelda usually plays a prominent role in the Legend of Zelda games. However, Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first entry in the mainline games, in which the primary protagonist is Princess Zelda. As this entry deviates from the traditional formula, you might wonder if Ganon, the nefarious baddie from the franchise, is present in this title.
Is Ganon in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
The answer to this question is yes, but not in the way you might expect. In the opening minutes of Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you will take control of a maxed-out Link, trying to rescue a kidnapped Zelda from Ganon’s clutches. After exploring a small dungeon, you will come across Ganon, with Zelda trapped inside a gem. Shortly after, a battle with Ganon then commences.
This boss battle with Ganon is reasonably straightforward if you avoid his attack phases. But if Ganon lands two attacks, you will die and have to restart the boss battle. After this fight has concluded, a mini-cutscene will transpire, where Ganon disappears into a blaze of purple smoke, and an enigmatic rift appears, taking him to the Still World, which also drags Link along. However, before Link gets pulled into this rift, he shoots an arrow, which breaks the gem that Zelda was trapped in.
Do you fight Ganon again in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Princess Zelda takes up the mantle of being the prestigious hero as she begins her quest to save Link from the Still World. During her adventure, she gets given the Tri Rod, a magical weapon that bestows the power of creating echoes. This ability allows her to copy monsters that she has previously defeated. Eventually, Zelda will reach the Hyrule Castle in the Still World, battling an Echo copy of Ganon. So, even though Ganon is in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, strictly speaking, Princess Zelda never actually fights Ganon herself. You only fight the real Ganon when you play as Link at the beginning of the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
