Is Baldur’s Gate 3 Crossplay Across All Platforms?

Baldur’s Gate 3 impresses with its massive world, fascinating characters, and unbelievable choice. But it all somehow gets even better when played with others. Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have crossplay, so you can check out the game with someone on the PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC?

Can You Play Baldur’s Gate 3 Crossplay?

The answer is, no, Baldur’s Gate 3 does not have crossplay at this time. However, Larian Studios knows players want this and it is on the agenda for release in the near future. That said, we do know what the cross-platform functionality will entail when it comes out. When crossplay releases, it will be available across all platforms. This includes both the PC version of the game and the console platforms as well (minus Stadia, which no longer exists). Yes, this even means that the recent Xbox Series X/S version of the game will be able to play with console competitors on PS5.

You’ll be able to join each other’s lobbies, make a new campaign together, create custom characters, and so on. You’ll even be able to have more than two platforms playing together, with people on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC all at once in the same lobby with no issue. This even includes players who might want to use mouse & keyboard alongside players using a controller.

When Will BG3 Crossplay Release?

If you want to check out the crossplay functionality in the game for yourself, you’re going to have to wait for now. There is no known release date for the feature at this time. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Xbox port took up most of the resources for this feature, so it is possible it could come out in the near future since that version is out now.

In the meantime, cross-saves are available and a possible solution. While PC can only play with PC, PS5 with PlayStation, and so on, cross-saves alleviate this issue if you own the game on multiple platforms. Log into your Larian account on the game and you will be able to access your campaign on another platform. You could then take that save to your friends on other systems and play it together there.
