In addition to male archers and female gunners with different evilities Nippon Ichi created some brand new classes for Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice. The Cheerleader class acts as a buffer with spells to boost attack, defense, and speed. Just having a Cheerleader in battle increases the stats of all allies by 5%. The Shaman is the exact opposite of the Cheerleader. Shamans have debilitating skills that lower enemy stats and inflict status alignments. Every Shaman starts out with the Cursed Dance evility, a skill that automatically lowers all enemy stats by 5%. Place a Shaman and a Cheerleader into the same battle to maximize your numeric advantage.
We have a more detailed look at each class below with a list of skills and such. Some of you may consider it to be a spoiler even though it isn’t part of the story. Proceed with caution.
The Brand New Idol class is proficient with guns and staves. While the staff provides a good INT boost I like to give Cheerleaders guns so they can deal some damage from a distance. The most useful ability is the passive 5% stat boost the Lovely Dance evility automatically gives. Here are the spells a Brand New Idol can learn:
Move Up – Increases Move stat 1%.
Jump Up – Increases Jump stat by 8%.
Brave Heart – Increases ATK 20% for 3 turns.
Shield – Increases DEF 20% for 3 turns.
Magic Boost – Increases INT 20% for 3 turns.
Magic Wall – Increases RES 20% for 3 turns.
Speed Boost – Increases SPD 20% for 3 turns.
Target Lock – Increases HIT 20% for 3 turns.
I don’t find myself using my Shaman as often because of the limited weapons proficiencies. Shamans get spear skills and can also use staves. Like the idol class the staves nudge up INT and magic ability significantly, but I find Shamans more useful when they attack. Unfortunately, spears only have a two square radius and most spear skills require you to be directly in front of an enemy. To balance their usefulness Shamans have more magic skills than Cheerleaders. The list is below, but their best ability, similar to the Cheerleader class, is their native evility. The Cursed Dance evility passively reduces all enemy stats by 5%.
Enfeeble – Decreases ATK 20% for 3 turns.
Armor Break – Decreases DEF 20% for 3 turns.
Mind Break – Decreases INT 20% for 3 turns.
Resist Break – Decreases RES 20% for 3 turns.
Slow – Decreases SPD 20% for 3 turns.
Blind – Decreases HIT 20% for 3 turns.
Poison – 40% chance to inflict poison status for 3 turns.
Slumber – 40% chance to inflict sleep status for 3 turns.
Stun – 40% chance to inflict paralyze status for 3 turns.
Blank Out – 40% chance to inflict forget status for 3 turns.
Charm – 40% chance to inflict deprave status for 3 turns.
