Nintendo just released Fire Emblem: Shin Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Ken (Fire Emblem: New Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light) this past August in Japan and it’s already in the localization pipeline. A rating for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon in the USK, Germany’s ESRB equivalent, spills the beans that Nintendo of Europe has plans to release Fire Emblem DS internationally. If Europe gets Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon North America is very likely to get it too, unless the classic looking graphics aren’t deemed up to par by Nintendo of America. In the unlikely event this occurs you can always go the import route.
Seeing Nintendo localize a Nintendo DS Fire Emblem game is not much of a surprise. Fire Emblem is a staple franchise for Nintendo now. Also, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon tells the origins of Marth who many gamers recognize from the Super Smash Brother series and this is the first Fire Emblem game to incorporate online play over Nintendo Wi-Fi. Really, this is a no brainer for Nintendo. However, I’m surprised to see any sign of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon crossing the pond appear so soon. ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat is still unconfirmed outside of an ESRB rating. Sources outside of Nintendo of America tell us this is being localized, but ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat has not appeared on any Nintendo release calendar yet. The fate of the delightful Soma Bringer is unknown too and both of these games were released before Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.
