Insomniac Confirms There’s a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Day One Update

Insomniac Games posted an update regarding the upcoming release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and its day one patch on its official social media account. It is encouraged that those planning on playing the disc version of the game download update Version 1.001.002. Those with that version can get it on October 20, 2023, the day of the game’s launch.

According to the announcement, the development team made significant improvements to the game before launch in order to offer a better day one experience. They have been working on these improvements since “going gold” (fully completing development of the game) one month before release. This means progress started since around September 2023. Insomniac suggested doing so before going through the first mission.

For those playing the digital version of the game, Insomniac Games offered additional insight. By pre-loading the digital version, the update Version 1.001.002 will be automatically applied. There will be no additional patch download.

Specifically, the day one update includes polish, improvements to the opening sections, some additional accessibility options, and other refinements to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
