Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake – Episode 3 Goes Over Its Battle System

Another installment of the Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake documentary series Square Enix has been sharing has appeared. This time, the third episode’s focus is on the whole new battle system. As a reminder, it doesn’t use a traditional turn-based battle system like the original game (though a Classic option is present). Instead, it is more of an action RPG.

With each of the Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake episodes, members of the team show up to go over the development process and how the gameplay or different elements came together. A few familiar faces are here, as Producer Yoshinori Kitase and Co-Director of Game Design and Programming Naoki Hamaguchi each show up. They’re joined by three entirely new members of the staff appearing to discuss the title: Battle Director Teruki Endo, Lead Battle Designer Kosuke Sakane, and Lead Battle Designer Tomotaka Shiroichi.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020. Even though it initially seemed like physical copies would be delayed, Square Enix began shipping them out early to prevent that.
