Square Enix announced that it will end its services for Imperial SaGa Eclipse on December 26, 2024. The company also revealed plans to reduce the game’s content and updates gradually. It had immediately disabled Premium Missions on the same day this announcement came out. Square Enix will then release the final story epilogue while disabling microtransactions for the premium Crown currency on June 27, 2024.
Eclipse appears as a sequel to Imperial SaGa. The SaGa subseries is particularly noted for its availability as free-to-play games on Japanese PC browser gaming platforms, such as DMM Games and Yahoo! Game.
Square Enix launched the original game in June 2015. The company then replaced it with Eclipse in October 2019. The sequel has yet to reach its fifth anniversary when Square Enix announced its closure.
This shutdown announcement also spells the end for the whole Imperial SaGa subseries, as Square Enix did not announce a new sequel in the making to replace Eclipse. However, the company has promised that it will preserve story content from the series by setting up an Imperial SaGa archive collection webpage after it has shut down the game.
Imperial SaGa Eclipse is available on PC browsers in Japan until December 26, 2024.
