Despite Hudson’s announcement Gradius II won’t be available on the Virtual Console this week. Mario Golf 64 and Shining Force II are this week’s Virtual Console games for 1,000 Wii Points and 800 Wii Points respectively. You could spend $8 commanding humans, birdman, centaurs, and robots in tactical RPG battles. But, eight bucks also buys Gameloft’s Midnight Bowling, which is described as “ultra-fun gaming thanks to a new physics engine”! How can you resist charismatic characters and a career mode mixed with motion controlled bowling? If Sega and Gameloft joined forces to make Shining Bowling you wouldn’t have to make a choice.
Madstone (pictured) is this week’s underdog and Riverman Media’s first WiiWare game. It bares some resemblance to Panel de Pon / Tetris Attack / Puzzle League, but in reverse. You start with a giant tower and break bricks to make it collapse. Chain combos to fill up the quake meter and you can shake your way to victory.
